A trip where 10 very exciting people of Squash goes to Batam - Shavonne, Elaine, Fang Lu, Talita and Georgina & Keith, Brandon, Kleon, Calvin and Wei Kang :) HAHA! Its either a memorable journey or a snooze inducing one. zzZ First, we headed to a bridge with a structural design similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The locals there are selling some huge, deliciously looking fried crabs! Too bad no one tried. On the way to the bridge, we passed the largest vietnamese refugee camp in the world. Rumour has it that people often see 'things' when they pass by that area. And the sole prison in Batam, interestingly only detains petty criminals, so those real big baddies are rejected to some faraway places to keep Batam safe. Parasailing.. nope, not on the first day because of bad weather. Haha. Shavonne, Fang Lu and Calvin got excited for nothing. Everyone else enjoyed the free (supposed to pay $2!) cold and wet boat ride I assume. Wei Kang and Kleon compete against a game of pool... while the rest watches. Kleon being Kleon (read: very big!) blocks 3 girls with an arm. We skipped go kart and headed straight to lunch. SEAFOOD LUNCH! GIANT FISH! CRABS! LALA! CALAMARI! COCONUTS! Lazy ass dancer and professional dancer at the after lunch cultural show. Lol. Everyone was supposed to tip at the end of the show, but nobody brought their wallets. While other more generous tourists gave bills, most of us gave 20 and 50 cent coin tips! Shopping was next. Those who shopped most was definitely Talita and Keith, followed by Shavonne and Fang Lu. Ahhh. The hungry mob gathered at Batam's Breeks. Tsk tsk. Cheap but they served seriously puny calamari. Checking in and choosing next day's dinner at Crown Vista's lobby. In the group, you can spot a mixture of maids, semi-drunkens and fully conscious people. & a zilian photo of our alcohol influenced captain and gf. This marks the end of the entry to a rather packed first day! There are more photos with me for those who wants. I have videos of the dancers and the performance put up by Brandon, Wei Kang and Calvin on the first night! -Elaine :) Labels: Batam Trip TP Squash
